James Connor, Founder
James Connor has seldom missed a day of meditation in over 12 years. He is committed to preserving authentic paths to enlightenment in practical and entertaining ways. After 11 years of rigorous formal study in the Gelugpa tradition (the lineage of the Dalai Lamas), he recently completed a three-year meditation and Yoga retreat in an isolated mountain cabin. There, the idea for GoBeyond.org began.
James understands the challenges and rewards of maintaining a daily meditation practice. Prior to deep retreat, he ran an advertising agency in bustling NYC for 12 years while keeping his personal commitment to meditate daily.
James is a passionate advocate of the importance of meditation. He has taught meditation since 2004 and is happy to share all he has learned. He is also the author of the recently released fiction novel The Superyogi Scenario that critics are praising as a "standout."
Kristin Walsh, Co-Founder
After almost a decade of meditation, yoga, and spiritual study in the lineage of the Dalai Lamas, Kristin completed a number of one-month retreats followed by the big shebang: a three-year, isolated meditation retreat. There, she climbed the levels of meditation outlined in ancient texts to experience the insights and benefits described by great masters—and she has good news to report!
Prior to her long retreat, Kristin maintained an intensive, daily spiritual practice while living and working in New York City as the senior art director for the national non-profit Teach For America.
In addition to her meditation and retreat knowledge, Kristin is a certified yoga teacher and a 2nd degree black belt with over five years of teaching experience. She’s also the author of the soon-to-be-released The Training of Kara Steele, a comedic novel about one woman’s journey to learn how to love without getting in the way. Through her writing and teaching, Kristin is committed to sharing time-tested ideas and practices that can change lives.
GoBeyond.org is a nonprofit offering meditation and life-changing wisdom
from tried-and-true, authentic scriptural sources in the Mahayana Buddhist and Yoga lineages. The co-founders recently completed a three-year meditation retreat after a combined twenty years of detailed study.
We help people of all backgrounds and faiths develop a daily meditation practice and clear personal obstacles to increase happiness.
Our approach relies on meditations and practices central to Mahayana Buddhism (The Greater Way) and Master Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra. While wisdom and love belong to no particular tradition, the art of meditation has been best articulated and preserved within these traditions.
